Topic: Managing old bridges in a modern times

Mitch Judd is an engineer with 40 years’ experience in managing road and bridge maintenance operations across rural NSW, living and working in the Riverina Murray area for the last 17 years.
Based on that experience this presentation will explore some of the issues around managing heritage bridges the 21st century. Mitch will discuss the work required to determining what should be preserved, what it takes to keep heritage bridges in service and describe some of the initiatives that have been adopted to preserve heritage bridges using the recently completed restoration of the historic Barham Koondrook Bridge as a case study.
